Watercolor USA returns for its 63rd year in 2024 and the Springfield Craftsmanship Museum is seeking entries for the show.
Coordinated in 1962, Watercolor USA highlights some of the best in contemporary American watermedia. It’s available to artists from each of the 50 states and U.S. territories and is visited by in excess of 15,000 patrons consistently. The museum produces a full-variety catalog, a total record of the display, for purchase by patrons.
The section gateway opens on Jan. 3, 2024 and the cutoff time to apply is 12 PM on Feb. 22. All entries must be submitted online. Artists ages 18 and up who are using watermedia as a basic component of their work are qualified to apply. This year’s show will be decided via Carole Hennessy, President of the Watercolor USA Honor Society.
“Artists whose work pushes the boundaries of traditional watermedia are urged to enter,” said a Springfield Craftsmanship Museum press release. “High realism, abstraction, traditional transparent watercolor and innovative uses of the medium are completely invited as the show continues to expand and adjust with contemporary artistic practice. The museum regularly purchases work from the Watercolor USA exhibition to expand its robust collection of contemporary American watermedia.”
Approximately $20,000 in cash prizes, artist materials and possible museum purchase awards are accessible.
